about

This 2012 recording brings together the earliest songs that Graphix played as part of their live set following their 1984 debut.
Although sadly missing their earliest efforts like ‘Medical Science’ and ‘Suburbia’ and the occasionally performed paean to Smash Hits ‘Monkey See Monkey Do’, all of the other early classics are here.
The album showcases the unhinged lyrical brilliance of Skreen B and the originality of Blunderwood’s nascent music writing.
‘Apeman’, the anthemic centrepiece of early live shows, presented here in all its glory, went on to have an afterlife in Japan where it has been repeatedly covered.
‘Red Rose’ features a haunting appearance on backing vocals by the late Mike Deery who regularly played bass with the band.
The digital download is accompanied by a limited edition CD version with different artwork containing the band’s cover of Bauhaus ‘Bela Lugosi’s Dead’ and a hidden extra treat.
Graphic will return in ‘Back From The Dead’.

Graphix Eastbourne, UK

Outrageous UK live debut 1984. Narrowly missed out on record deals and subsequent fame/fortune by quietly imploding before end of decade. Music lives on in covers of anthem ‘Apeman’ - big in Japan. Members continued in music separately in bands as diverse as The Cuban Boys; Network23 & Now Zero. Briefly reunited to revisit the joys of the old gothic. Not the same as the new gothic ... more
